MiFID (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive) is Directive 2004/39/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 April 2004 on markets in financial instruments. In connection with MiFID, Commission Directive 2006/73/EC of 10 August 2006 was adopted, implementing MiFID as regards organizational requirements and operating conditions for investment firms, and defining terms for the purposes of the MiFID Directive. Furthermore, Commission Regulation (EC) No 1287/2006 of 10 August 2006 was issued, focusing on the implementation of MiFID in respect of obligations of investment firms, transaction reporting, market transparency, the admission of financial instruments to trading, and defining terms for the purposes of the MiFID Directive. These three European legislative acts together form a single framework, with MiFID constituting the core directive. MiFID and Commission Directive 2006/73/EC are implemented into Czech law through Act No. 230/2008 Coll., which amended Act No. 256/2004 Coll., on Capital Market Undertakings.
